Latest versions of IE11 no longer pausing in window.print() function RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, we are trying to implement support for printing on IE 11 and Edge in our product. There seems to be an issue with the window.print function. On the latest versions of IE (Example: 11.316) and Edge window.print function does not pause like it used to until the print dialog is closed by either canceling or printing. On older versions of IE 11 and other browsers the window.print will pause. We need window.print to pause so we can call window.print on another iFrame once the original print dialog is closed. We were wondering if this is potentially a bug that should be raised? We currently can not figure out another other solution to detect when the print dialog is closed. Browser support for functions like onafterprint() or matchMedia('print') do not indicate when the dialog is closed. We can also not figure out a way to get a handler on the dialog window to detect when it is closed.

    Thanks,
    Cian
