Install Exchange Server 2003 on Windows server 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hallo,

I'm running Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition (32-bit) and want to install Exchange 2003 Server (32-bit). But every time I run ForestPrep the process terminates by about 80 % with the error-message "Module not found - Retry or abort?" --> By clicking on rety the same Mesage comes up again and by clicking abort the process termintes with a failure.

Does anybody know, how to solve the problem?

    Thx

  • Oh no, that's bad, but thanks for your quick answear!

But I read on the Internet, that Exchange Server 2003 with SP 2 can be executed on Windows Server 2008, when it's intalled on Server 2003 R2 und then updated. Is that true or is there really no possibility to run Echange 2003 on Windows Server 2008???

  • Even if you could get it to run (and I am not saying that it would), would you really want to do that, given that it is not a supported configuration?  Most people consider Exchange something they like to get support on.

  • Hello,

What Tim said was right on the target. The way you mentioned was not supported officially.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 is in the list of the incompatible applications on Windows Server 2008.

You could refer to the following article for more information:
