  • the start menu on one of my windows xp users is missing most but not all items - the start menu does not have the hidden attrib

    the start menu is like this for whichever user logs into the machine

    sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum but I couldn't find the xp only forum

  • it turns out that the start menu was infact hidden with the hidden attrib therefore the contents were hidden from the user!

    I unticked the hidden attrib and all returned

  • Start menu does not have hidden attribute. You use Pin to start menu option for adding items to start menu. Also you will be get an option during installation of a software that whether it need to add Start menu (Start menu shortcut). It will only show in start menu if you checked it during installation

    Yea. You are wright. Like normal folder and files it also have hidden attribute.
