system.admx missing in server 2012 r2 GP

    Question

  • Hi All,

    system.admx missing in server 2012 r2 GP

I am specifically looking to disable USB ports via Group Policy, however in this particular environment the System folder under Administrative templates is missing, I also can't locate the system.admx file to manually re-add the options. Is there a different admx file in 2012 to control this option which I should be looking for?

I have tried with no luck:

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Dan.

  • Hi Dan,

    Thanks for your post.

The .admx files are stored under %systemroot%\PolicyDefinitions on each of your DCs.

If you have created a Central Store to store them, you install them into Central Store.

Here is a thread below may be helpful to you.

Here is an article below about Central Store for your reference.

  • Thanks Jay,

I should have clarified better in my original post. The System.admx file is missing from this PolicyDefinitions folder. on both the local domains and the central store location.

We do have a central store, it is also missing from that locations (domain.local\SYSVOL\domain.local\Policies\PolicyDefinitions\)

Do you have any other suggestions or places where I can find the system.admx file to copy to the correct location?

    Appreciate your thoughts.

    Kind regards,

    Dan.
