Migrate calendar PFs in Exchange 2003 to room mailboxes in Exchange 2010

Question
-
Hi all,
we have an Exchange 2003 with a PF database. Many PFs are calendar item PF used to book conferencing rooms. We are transitioning to Exchange 2010 SP1. Is there a way to convert / migrate calendar PFs to room mailboxes in Exchange 2010, preserving appointments already booked? TIA, Roberto

we want to convert them to resource (room) mailboxes in Exchange 2010. Is that possibile? Which is the best way to do this?
Yes, Export the Calendar PST and Import it into Room Mailbox on 2010. Use Outlook to Export and Import the PST.
Note: I never tried it before but it should work. Test it with Test Room Mailbox first and than go for the production Mailbox.

Hi Roberto,
From my experience, there is no method to upgrade a public folder calendar to a resource mailbox. We should export and import the PST files.

When you replicate the Public Folders it will get migrated along with it.

Hi Gulab,
thanks for your answer. Our goal is to replace PFs used to book conferencing rooms (in Exchange 2003) with resource mailboxes (in Exchange 2010). We don't plan to have similar PFs in Exchange 2010 (at least at the end of migration, this can be an intermediate step). Our goal is also to import existing bookings into the new resource mailboxes in Exchange 2010.
Thanks a lot
Roberto

Are you going to use Outlook 2003 clients when migration is done on to 2010?

Part of our users are on Outlook 2003, some have Outlook 2007/2010.

Than you will have to have Public Folder Database on Exchange 2010, without Public Folder Database Outlook 2003 won't work.

I'm sorry, my scenario description is not well explained.
Actually, in Exchange 2010 we already have a PF database too, containing a lot of PFs used for different goals (also the Free/Busy PF used by Outlook 2003). But we don't want to migrate some PFs used to book conferencing rooms in Exchange 2003 (more or less, 100 PFs over 2000 PFs total) to PFs in Exchange 2010: we want to convert them to resource (room) mailboxes in Exchange 2010. Is that possibile? Which is the best way to do this?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Fiona and Gulab, we tested this procedure: - export all calendar items to a pst using import/export function in Outlook 2010 - connet a room mailbox to Outlook 2010 - import all calendar items to the room mailbox from pst, using import/export function in Outlook 2010 All worked well, also the meeting organizers are migrated with success.
