Exchange Backup Problemi

Question
-
MErhaba,
Windows Server SBS üzerinden Exchange için full backup alıyorum. Fakat Exchange'in bölümü backup alınamıyor. (application will not available for recovery from this backup. Consistency check failed too...)
Servislerin falan durmasımı icab ediyor? Yoksa bir kısım datanın başka diskte tutulması mı problem yaratıyor olabili?
Teşekkürler.

Hi
- If that is your situation, then your backups are not failing, it's a known error according to that KB. It's just a warning with a caveat. Read that link again, or translate the link via google in your language. This should help.

If you require the ability to take online Exchange backups while you have either LCR or SCR enabled, use an Exchange 2007 aware application, such as System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) or a capable third party solution. Note: The DPM management software cannot be installed on a domain controller, only the DPM agent.

- Post the entire error you get in event viewer and the event ID.
- Are you LC or SCR? If yes then it wont work - http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2009/02/23/sbs-2008-will-not-perform-an-online-backup-of-exchange-if-lcr-or-scr-is-enabled.aspx - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvravailabilityandisasterrecovery/thread/6b4ede59-391b-4cd9-9d7b-f788c7976598

Hello
I analyz http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2009/02/23/sbs-2008-will-not-perform-an-online-backup-of-exchange-if-lcr-or-scr-is-enabled.aspx that link again.
I understand that i can use that backup so i can export database like file backup... It is ok for me.
Am I correct?
Thank you...

In short if I understand yes. The backup will be at the file level. So you can restore and get data if need be.
Even with LCR/SCR enabled, SBS does back up the entire Exchange directory at a file level. This is not, however, the same as an online backup of Exchange. It is not a point-in-time copy of the production database. The copy of the database may not be consistent, logs already committed to the database are not purged, the production database is not checksummed, and so on. You may have the ability of restoring your databases to an alternate location for recovery, such as in scenarios where you would use a recovery storage group for individual mailbox recovery. However, this does not guarantee reliablility of the data that you are recovering.
