SharePoint Online - Enterprise Wiki List Categories

    Question

  • Hello,

I have created a number of wiki categories in an Enterprise Wiki in SharePoint Online and want to list them on a page.

So for example I have categories such as "Technical Documentation", "Help Guides".

How do I list them on a page for users to select?

  • Hi Christopher Taverner IT,

You could insert links using the following format for these categories in to the page manually. One link for one category.

    https://<site>/_layouts/15/Categories.aspx?FieldName=Wiki%5Fx0020%5FPage%5Fx0020%5FCategories&FieldValue=<category term ID>&ListId=<list ID>

Replace the "<>" with your own value.

After that, when user clicks on a specific category link, the pages with this category value will be listed on the category page.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Linda,

Yes that's what I have been doing, however I was after a list that would automatically be populated when a new category is added.

Is there a way to do that?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Christopher Taverner IT,

There is no OOTB function to create links automatically.

To achieve that, you may need some customizations, such as JSOM, custom solution.

An article about SharePoint Online Developer Guide:
