ExMerge failed to start cannot fine exchmem.dll RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to restore form an edb using EXMerge however I'm getting the aforementioned error. The server ExMerge is on is not the Exchange Server and I would rather not perform this task on my production email server, since I have already the edb file in question on the same server, can someone please advice me on this process.

  • You need to install the Exchange 2003 management tool only as in the picture below. The EMC for 2010 does not satisfy the requirement for exmerge, only the 2003 tool does.

Also are you attempting to exmerge from a flat edb file? Exmerge only works on a mounted DB. Also keep in mind that you can use the export-mailbox cmdlet.

  • Did you install the Exchange admin tool on this box? If not it's required.
