I want to programmatically update actual costs for COST resources - not Work Resources. What is the proper PSI service to use... Is this scenario supported??Wednesday, August 25, 2010 7:16 PM

The general consensus says this can't be done John. Using the object model in Pro might be one alternative.

Brian.

Hi JohnBGood,
Are you looking to do this in a timephased way - or just a total on the assignment?
Best regards,
Brian.

Is this 2010 or 2007? Just thinking out loud here, but if you want timephasing then this usually means the statusing web service. In 2007 this meant impersonation - and the cost resource isn't a real resource that you can impersonate. In 2010 the option to status for another resource was added (along with a permission to control it) - but I must admit I haven't seen it specifically stated that this also allow it to work for cost resources. I'll need to do a little more research on this.
Best regards,
Brian.

its 2007 ... and thanks.
I did not know you can impersonate a cost resource - if so then we are pretty much do this the same way as a regular user (ie via impersonation). Of course we are entering actual cost in a timephased manner rather than hours. Would you agree the Statusing PSI supports that scenario?

Hi JohnBGood, sorry I wasn't clear - I don't think you can impersonate a cost resource - but I will do a little more research and get back to you.

Brian were you able to confirm that you cant impersonate a cost resource -- or otherwise enter data on behalf of the cost resource programmatically?Wednesday, September 1, 2010 6:59 PM

No confirmation yet - just asking a bit wider internally...
