Win 7 RC rebuild

Question

I have been using Win 7 Beta and ready to move on to RC. I understand I must reload all my programs and data with the move to RC. Once I have RC loaded will I be able to purchase an UPGRADE to Win 7 next year without rebuilding and reloading my PC again?Monday, May 25, 2009 8:24 AM

No. Read the release notes. You'll be able to buy an upgrade from Vista to a correspondent Win7 version (Home -> Home, Prof -> Prof, etc.) but not an upgrade from Win7 RC to Win7 final. So, indeed, you have to rebuild and reinstall again.

As Sanmartin said - the answer would be no.
To add to what he was saying... When you buy your copy of Windows 7 - it won't likely be the Ultimate version. Microsoft has said that there will only be two SKUs (versions) of Windows 7 available in stores (Home Premium and Professional). Right now, the version you've got installed is Ultimate. In order to get back to Ultimate, you would need to install the Home Premium or Professional version and then do an Anytime Upgrade to Ultimate. And since you can't "downgrade" a version from Ultimate to Home Premium or Professional (or any of the other SKUs), it would make things kind of difficult to do anything BUT a clean install.Monday, May 25, 2009 9:38 AM -
