Is Proclarity Desktop 6.3 compatible with XP Service Pack 3 RRS feed

  • We recently installed SP3 on a new IBM Thinkpad R61i laptop with Windows XP. After the installation of SP3, we tried to install Proclarity Desktop Pro 6.3 and received a message stating:

    The following items were not found and are required to install ProClarity Desktop Professional 6.3

    Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 v2
    Microsoft XML 6.0
    Microsoft Pivot Table Services for SQL Server 2000

    There are Install and Cancel buttons in the message. After clicking Install, the system appears to begin the install and then another message appears:

    One or more of the installations required a reboot. Would you like to reboot now?

    After clicking Yes, the system reboots but as the desktop loads, the same "..following items...not found..." message appears and, after clicking Install again, it prompts to reboot again. And then it continues this cycle, unless the Cancel button is pressed, which stops the install attempt.

    We, then tried to install the Windows Installer manually from Microsoft, but as it attempts to install, this message appears:

    Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer that the update you are applying. There is no need to install this update.

    So the question is, how do we install ProClarity? We tried to uninstall SP3 but the Remove option is unavailable, as is the $NTServicePackUninstall$ folder off of c:\windows\system32. Also, System Restore was turned off shortly after this laptop was set up, so that is not an option.

    Is our problem a compatibility issue with XP SP 3? Or is something else going on?
