Skype for Business Conferences Expiry time RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    How can we check expiry time of any Skype meeting/conference and what is the default expiry time ? When the information related to skype meeting gets deleted from SQL database server ?

    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

  • Set-csconferencingconfiguration -ContentGracePeriod dd.hh:mm:ss

    Default - 15 days

    Ou... And to show actual period you can use - Get-CsConferencingConfiguration :)

  • Thanks for your suggestion :)

    We have checked this option but it seems it does not apply.We are able to access Skype meeting which was configured 2 months back and supposed to be expired as per configuration.

    I found below article :

    http://masteringlync.com/2015/05/01/skype-for-business-conferencing-activationdeactivation/

    which says one-time skype for business meeting expires EndDate+365 days.

  • Hi James,

    1.First you should know two attribute ContentGracePeriod (CsConferencingConfiguration) ,DeactivationGracePeriod (CsUserServicesConfiguration)

    The ContentGracePeriod (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412969.aspx  indicates how long the content of a conference will remain on the server, after the conference has ended. A meeting is considered ended once the last participant is leaving the meeting., but we might need to perform some additional tests on this matter.

    The DeactivationGracePeriod (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398340.aspx ) represents the amount of time that a meeting can remain active. So, this parameter will not affect the amount of time that the content will be stored on the server, but it has to be taken into account as, when the meeting will no longer be active (for example after 3 days), then the value for the ContentGracePeriod will start to be counted. So, if we have a meeting that will no longer be active starting 01/03, and the ContentGracePeriod is setup to 14 days, the content for this meeting will be deleted on the 15/03.

    2.Then Meeting deactivation and expiration

    deactivation in this particular case means that the meeting has ended. This can occur in the following scenarios:

    • a presenter uses the End Meeting option (from the meeting Options);

    • the meeting is deleted from Outlook;

    • all the participants leave the meeting;

    • if no new user joins the conference in 24h.

    • expiration is basically the moment when the content is being deleted from the server, together with the coordinates for that conference. This is where the ContentGracePeriod is applied. The expiration cannot occur if a meeting is still active and we have to take into account that there are grace periods also, depending on the type of meeting and the scheduled end date , as below:

    • For a one-time scheduled meeting, the expiry time is the scheduled end time plus 14 days.

    • For a recurring scheduled meeting with an end date, the expiry time is the scheduled end time of the last meeting occurrence plus 14 days.

    • For an ad hoc IM or A/V conference, the expiry time is 8 hours.

    • For a recurring scheduled meeting without a specified end date, the expiry time is 6 months after the last meeting activation.

  • Hi,

    DeactivationGracePeriod is set as 1 day and ContentGracePeriod is set as 15 Days but still able to access old meetings which were scheduled 1 month back(One time Scheduled meeting).

    Please suggest how can we sure if expiry process of our Skype envirnment is working fine ? Can we confirm within the Backend database if there is any command to check.

  • Hi James,

    You could connect the RTCLOCAL ,open the rtcdyn database.run the following query SQL,if have data in this table,it means have active conference.if not,conference is expired

    select * from dbo.ActiveConference;

  • Hi James,

    Now you want user cannot join the expire meeting, and you want the meeting disappear?

    If so ,you could try to deactivate the meeting manually ,to use the following ways

    1. Presenter could click the “End Meeting” to deactivate the meeting.

    2.Organizer delete the meeting from Outlook.
