Shut down the system in LOCAL SECURITY POLICY is disabled RRS feed

  •  I have windows 2008 server installed, have also installed Active directory.

    some time before i have added user in shut down the system policy in  "LOCAL SECURITY POLICY" (start-> Program->administrative tools-> Local Security Policy)


    now it is lock /disabled

    i am unable to add user in shut down the system policy.

    the problem is that those user which i have added previously can only shutdown, restart the system, other user can not do this

    how i would be possible to allow other user to restart and shutdown the system

    kindly help me.

  • Hi,


    To add users to the "Shut down the system" policy, you can also use GPO.


    1.    Create a new GPO.

    2.    Add users to the "Shut down the system" policy in this GPO.

    3.    In the Scope tab of this GPO, remove Authenticated Users under Security Filtering and only add this domain controller.

    4.    Link the GPO to domain controller OU.
