Help with OWA Internet Calendar Publishing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I need to enable the "publish this calendar to internet" option in OWA.  The first two steps to doing so are as follows:

    1.  Configure web proxy URL:  set-exchangeserver –identity “MAIL01” –InternetWebProxy ”<webproxy URL>”

    2.  Enable the publishing virtual directory:  Set-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "CAS01" -ExternalUrl "<URL for CAS01>" -CalendarPublishingEnabled $true

My problem is I'm not exactly sure what the above commands are accomplishing, and I want to be 100% sure before I enter them.  A quick overview of our setup:  We have 2 CAS servers and 2 mail servers.  All of our users use OWA and when they go to https://mail.example.com/owa they go through a load balancer that balances the two CAS servers.

My questions for both the webproxy URL you enter on the mail servers and the virtual directory URL you enter on the CAS servers are:

What's using these URLs?  Are the users going to end up typing them in to get to the calendars?  Can they be cnames?

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.
