Windows 8 Pro Upgrade

If I purchase the Windows 8 Pro upgrade for $70, am able to wipe out my current Windows 7 and install it clean instead of upgrade from Windows 7 to 8? I've heard/read somewhere that the Windows 8 Po "upgrade" only works for upgrade and you can't use for a clean install even though you already own Windows 7. If anyone knows the facts, please confirm. My Windows 7 has a lot of junk in it. I do not want to carry those over to Windows 8 with only an "upgrade" and not clean install.
Thank you.

The old Win7 Upgrade trick still works in Windows 8:

So, another word, Windows 8 Upgrade won't let us do a clean install then. Okay, so let me get this straight. Windows 8 Upgrade media will let us do a clean install but just won't activate, correct? So, all we have to do is follow the trick above and it should work, right?Wednesday, January 16, 2013 8:00 PM

No. You must have a qualifying Windows operating system installed (i.e. Windows XP, Vista or 7) in order to activate a Windows 8 upgrade license.

He is running a previous Windows version.
He just wants to add a new drive to his computer, that is running a previous Windows version.
Did we fail to mention, a previous version of the free Windows 8 CP or RP also qualifies for the Pro upgrade.
Do us the honors, Carey, and cite that from the fine print, or, transcribe it from the FAQ, please. It's stated in both places.
So, there you have it, Charlie. Look at all these great ways you can install a discounted copy of Windows 8 Pro.
Don't delay. The promo ends Jan 31.

officially you cant do a clean install because Windows detects this when you try to activate Windows. When using the trick, you can activate Windows 8 fine. Several users confirmed that it still works."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code"
