Win7 Pro, Dell Studio XPS 1640 and slow USB transfer RRS feed

  • Dell Studio XPS 1640 laptop came with Vista, and my attached devices (2 external WD NTFS USB2.0 harddrives, USB2.0 cables) had high transfer speeds.  They continue to have high speeds when attached to other machines.

    Installed Win7 Pro (6.1.7600.16385 build 7600), and the transfer rates are glacial (12MB/s) in either direction.
    USB drivers appear to be up-to-date (root hubs, controllers, etc).  Tried un-installing and then re-booting, to no effect.
