Outlook 2016 search problem persists after trying all the solutions RRS feed

  • Windows 10 Home, version 1709, OS build 16299.192
    Outlook 2016, version 1711, Build 8730.2175

    Problem: search in email folders does not work (“No results.”)  Search in iCloud-based Contacts and Calendar works, but search in PC-based Contacts and Calendar does not work.

    Ran in Safe Mode -- SEARCH WORKS

    Ran scanpst.exe on pst file multiple times – result was always the following… i.e., scanpst does not seem to fix the problems.
    “Only minor inconsistencies were found in this file.  Repairing the file is optional.”

    Running in normal mode (i.e., not Safe Mode) with disabled macros and disabled add-ins, after SFC /SCANNOW, after rebuilding Outlook indices, after running  Stellar Phoenix Outlook PST Repair software  -- SEARCH DOES NOT WORK ("No results")

    What’s your account type? Do you have cache mode enabled?

    When starting Outlook in safe mode, all Instant Search functionality in Outlook (that is provided by WDS) and customization are disabled. This means searching in normal mode or safe mode uses different search mechanisms.

    We could first check whether the indexing has been finished. To check this, please select Search Tools under Search tab and then click Indexing Status.

    Besides, we could verify if Outlook data is being indexed. Please follow the steps below.

    1. Go to Control Pane > Index Options and then check whether Microsoft Outlook is listed. 

    2. If not, click Modify and then select Microsoft Outlook under Index Locations.

    3.If Microsoft Outlook is listed, click Modify and Uncheck Outlook. Click OK. Restart Outlook and then select Outlook under Index Locations again.

    4. Click OK and then close.
