DNS for DMZ in corporate domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are installing a couple of public facing servers, including a web server in our dmz.  Our corporate domain is corp.comanyname.com.  Our domain registrar has DNS for companyname.com.  We have AD integrated DNS zone for corp.companyname.com.  The new public facing servers will be on companyname.com domain.  For internal use, we want an AD integrated zone for the servers on companyname.com.  Can I simply add a zone for mycompany.com?  How do I make it authoritative only for our DMZ?

  • Hi,

You could install DNS server on companyname.com, and configure a DNS zone.  In the zone,  you can right-click the created zone and select properties. In properties, you can select Secure only in Dynamic Updates of General. Finally, it will be authoritative.

    Best Regards,

    Frank
