Sending mail from shared mailbox RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have setup a shared mailbox using AD and Outlook 2003.  All works fine except mail can't be sent from the shared mailbox.  Seems to have something to do with "Send As" permissions that don't seem to work.  Can anyone assist?

  • I believe you can do it this way: Start up Exchange Management console > right click the shared mailbox, there u will have manage full access permission/full send permission, add user to each.

By default there will take a while before this will take affect.

  • Hi,

Here is a nice guide how it can be done. Have you set it up as this guide?

  • Hi,

From your original post, I didn’t find your SBS version.

I think other buddies’ replies are right. Send as permission should be added for the shared mailbox so that the different users could send as this shared mailbox.

There is a helpful article from Exchange team blog, I think you will have a better understanding of the assigning “Send As” Permissions to a user:

  • Hello:

To ansuer your question, no, I did not have it setup as per the guide.  I had read another guide that said to use AD - Exchange Advanced - Add user - Give rights.  This is what I did but Send As was not one of the rights I could give.  I look at the guide you recomended and set up Send As.  Once I get into the office I will give it a try.

    Thanks
