'reference site' site created by migration tool? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Has anyone seen a site named 'reference site' being created as part of the migration?

This site doesn't exist in the source I have migrated from so I'm a bit puzzled as to where it has come from?

  • Hello Alex,

Where do you see the reference site? What is the URL of the site? Can you browse to the site?

I don't see it in my SPO admin center.

    Thanks

    Hari

  • Hi Hari,

So if I set the migration destination to point to https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/migrationtest then the URL of the 'Reference Site' will be https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/migrationtest/referencesite.

It appears as a sub-site of the root so it doesn't show in my Admin Centre either (either old or new version).

In terms of content it just has a single document library called Site Assets with nothing in it!

I don't see anything called 'reference site' in the source site but the source has been migrated up from WSS3.0 so it could be a remnant of WSS3.0, SP2010 or SP2013 that's somehow decided to show itself during the migration to SPO!

If no-one else is seeing it then I guess its something specific to our environment rather than a bug in SPMT.
