Expanding the column width RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi -

In SharePoint 2013 the content/columns of document libraries seem like they are crammed too close together.  In SP2010 they seemed to have more spacing between the columns and filled the whole screen left to right.    I believe to resolve this we would need to modify the AllItems.aspx and increase the column width.  That would probably have to be on a site-by-site basis and we'd want to have it done to the entire site collection.   Is this possible?

    thanks

  • Hi

use a dev tool ( F12 in Internet Explorer ) for your page, and check which style is applied

Use a customized .css file and add there your custom style

  • XRS,

Their is a good reason to come out of 2010 type UI to 2013 UI. Nowa days we are experiencing four kind of device, they are traditional system(big screen), Phone, Tablet, Phabet. 2013 interface view satisfy all of them(at least that is the intention), because collaboration is not limited to big screen office environment only. People do work informally using BYOD. You might be thinking for big screen, where your css may not satisfy other type of screen. Just a perspective.

  • Hi,

According to your post, my understanding is that you want to expand the column width.

You can add the Javascript code to the master page. However, you need to find the common class.
