Internal mail fitering RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Is it possible to check all internal mails (send within organization, from one local user to another local user - mail is not leaving LAN) by a 3rd party solution (for example antimalware/antispam, antivirus, etc....). The situation is: local user1 sends mail to local user2, and that mail is delivered to user2 only if 3rd party solution approve it, so this monitoring solution is between every send/received mail, no matter if it is internal or external communication.

    Thanks for advices!

  • Do you want these messages to approved or just monitored?

If you need them approved, you can create a Transport Rule for that:

    -Apply this Rule if...

The Sender is this person: UserA

-Hit "More Options" and then the Add Condition button

The Recipient is this person: UserB

    -Do the following...

Forward the message for approval to: UserC

  • Hi,

I have no idea of any 3rd party solution, but before providing better suggestion for you, would you mind tell me why you want to monitor every send/received mail for approval? Or what's the criterion for approval/block?

In exchange 2016, there is a built-in feature for "message approval", you can refer to this document for more information

  • The reason for block/approve is not important in this case. I know that Exchange has it's own mechanisms, but this mail flow must be forwarded/proxied to this separated solution and after that it will be send back for delivery  to mailbox (or not if not approved). My goal is to set internal mail flow so it would be possible to inspect every single mail and this flow must be default for all mail flow (setting this up for every user manualy is not an option)
