Project Server 2016: Unable to view business intelligence excel report in browser RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have migrated Project server from 2010 to 2016 which has three servers architecture (Web Font end, application and database server). Now I am verifying all OLAP cube and other excel reports in browser but these all reports are throwing below error.

    “An unexpected error has occurred”

As per ULS log, I configured “Distributed cache” service multiple times in application server but it is always showing in disabled mode. Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?

    Below is ULS log details.

Unexpected Exception in SPDistributedCachePointerWrapper::InitializeDataCacheFactory for usage 'DistributedLogonTokenCache' - Exception 'Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.DataCacheException: ErrorCode<ERRCA0009>:SubStatus<ES0001>:Cache referred to does not exist. • Hello,

Review guide here on setting up the Distributed Cache: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/jj219613(v=office.16).aspx

Also, for 2016 if you want to use Excel reports in the web you will also need the Office Online Server now, see the links below:

  • Thanks Paul for your response.

I have tried to set up the Distributed Cache in application server as per guide but still the Distributed cache is showing in stopped mode and also there no link showing to start for this service in Central administration.  Do you have any idea why this is happening?

Also I am planning to configure Office Online Server in application server box. I will update you.
