Hi,
Generally speaking, a DNS zone is any distinct, contiguous portion of the domain name space in the Domain Name System (DNS) for which administrative responsibility has been delegated to a single manager.
The DNS Server service provides for three types of zones: Primary zone, Secondary zone and Stub zone. Regarding the detail explanation of the three types, you could refer to:
