IE - 10 Session expired on Clicking Button. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I upgraded my IE-9 to IE-10 due to some business requirement. On doing so, while working on my application project, on clicking a submit button on one of the screen, The session got expired and I could move forward to next screen. Although, I wasnt the normal time out because I took about just 15 seconds to fill up information on the screen and submit it.

So, for this problem, I turned off the IE-10 from "windows turn and off fectures"

and Again, I restarted IE-10 from windows turn and off feactures.

Waowwwwww, next time I used my application project and submitted the same screen it got submitted.

Can anyone tell me what actually happened when I turned IE-10 off and restarted it again????????

Root cause needed. Please advice. thanks.

  • Hi,

Session timeouts start from the time of the last request... please try reproducing the issue again to ensure that your conclusions are reproducible. View your server logs or use the Developer tools Networking tab to confirm the server response code.

a well behaved website would redirect a user to the login page when the session timeout period has expired...

Perhaps you mean " Internet Explorer error "connection timed out" when server does not respond".... see

  • Thanks for the Reply.

The Issue is reproducible in IE10, I have tried on different machines, which got upgraded from IE-8 to IE-10.

My team has developed a product, which is related to Insurance policy.

So while pressing a "submit button" on one the page of the application, the session of the user got expired. Since we have designed a small window for Time out,so it pops up.

Otherwise, our application is working totally fine on other screens and different modules.

I dont think there is any problem with the code and I am amazed how it got resolved by just turning off the IE-10 and restarting it.

    Any suggestions??

  • Hi Vipul Dawar,

Have you tried to open the Internet Explorer ,click F12 key, then change the Brower Mode as “Internet Explorer 10 compatibility view” or other compatibility mode? How about the result?

If persists, I guess your application has conflicts with Internet Explorer 10. So you have to roll back to previous Internet Explorer as following article:

  • Hi Karen

Yes, I have tried compatibility modes, it doesnt have any impact.

Moreover, I have mentioned the solution in my query itself. I just turned off the IE-10 feature and restarted from Windows feature turn on / off.

And It worked for my entire project.

I am puzzled what changes made it run after I restarted the IE-10 service?????????????

    Thanks friend.

  • Hi,

go to to test your userAgent string.... look for a nested IE6 token...

Some xp/ie6-8 addons or Group Policy add the IE6 token. There is a known bug in GPEdit where the custom UserAgent string is not removed when it is 'disabled' by GPO.
