Error message in FIM custom workflow RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am working on a custom authorization workflow which will check date entered by user on submission. I want to display an error message on UI if date entered is not validated. How can I show my custom error message.

  • When you are making your authorization decision and you want to deny the request you should throw an exception - put your message to a user in exception message and this is what will be presented to a user on deny decision on request. Note however that this will be result of authorization phase so it will be after your request will be submitted and it will not be directly visible in RCDC.

  • There are only 2 ways to validate the date value.

    1. Regular expression validation in the attribute/binding properties. This will prevent from submitting the change.

    2. Authorization Workflow. This will require you to submit the change.

  • If you want to get the value in the authorization phase, you need to read the request instead of reading the date field of user because the request is still not submit to FIM

See this link as example to get request parameters:
