Pinned shortcuts does not point to package RRS feed

  • Question

  • Running 4.6 on RDS 2008R2

I have created an "icon package" for pulling IE into the virtual environment to get the virtual add-ons like flash and so on working and this runs fine.

The problem is that when the user rightclick on the running app and pins it to the taskbar, the shortcut that is pinned is not the virtualized, but the real one. The result is of course when the user starts IE with the pinned shortcut, its executed outside the bubble and add-ins dont work.

Shortcut in startmenu: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Application Virtualization Client\sfttray.exe" /launch "Internet Explorer xx"

Shortcut in pinned icon: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

This goes for all "icon only" packages, but "full" ones, like Excel pins correctly and works as intended.

Anybody seen this or have any ideas?

  • This is by design for any application that has an executable not based upon the %SFT_MNT% drive (by default Q:)
