App-V 5 Client Issue with SharePoint Designer

Hi all,

I have sequenced sharepoint designer 2007 in app - v 5.0 and try to deploy in App - V Cliet using powershell. but for the first lauch of the application, it launches fine and working properly but if I close the application and try to launch second time it throws an error like,

"SharePoint Designer was not installed properly.Reinstall sharepoint designer and try this operation later"

Before Sequencing : Install Microsoft Office 2010 application locally and sequenced the sharepoint designer.

App - V Client : Installed Microsoft Office 2010 locally and launched virtualised sharepoint designer.

Tried possible solution : renamed the setup.exe in Office setup controller directory and tried replacing the same with rundll.exe.

Kindly help me in this regard.

Hello,

If you are using SharePoint designer 2010 - you need the licensing engine.

If you are using SharePoint designer 2007 - most likely you will need to resort to Process Monitor to troubleshoot the issue.

Hi Nicke,

Thanks for the response.

I have tried with process monitor and in that I found some missing dlls based upon the results. but I have tried replacing them in their particular locations of the application still the issue remains. Actually can u suggest what might be the reason for this issue?

I would be greately benefitted If I get some suggestions.

Hello,

I have no idea - I am not even certain what version of SharePoint designer you are attempting to sequence. Perhaps you can elaborate on your process a bit more?

Hi Znack,

I have sequenced Sharepoint Designer 2007 and the version is 12.0.4518.1014. I have sequenced the application successfully in App - V 5.0. If I launch the shortcut for the first time the application is launching fine but after I close the application and launch for the second time, the application is throwing the above stated error.

when I see the reference of this error in eventlog, the eventlog says, "MDM is not found. Try installing MDM once again."

According to me MDM is Machine debug manager and its a service of this application.I have checked with the virtual services but the MDM services is running.

But after sometime If I launch the shortcut, it works fine.
