Checking App-V 5 SP1 Sandboxing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am required, for a security audit, to check and test that my App-V applications are really sandboxed and that sandboxed application can't modify my global PC settings.

How could I do this ?, what testings can I do ?

  • The App-V sandbox is not a security sandbox (therefore it's probably not technically correct to call it a sandbox, it's virtualization or redirection of reads and writes).

If the application is run with elevated privileges, then the application could write to protected locations. Assess applications delivered by App-V just like you would any installed application.
