KB4032782 not downloaded from Windows Update catalog. Missing? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I have to deploy urgently KB4032782 but it seems that it is not into Windows Update Catalog. I have already forced a catalog sync from SCCM, and both required Product (Windows 7 x64) and Patch category (Updates) are selected for download. Can't understand why.

I know it would not be possibile to manually upload patches to SCCM. Correct?

    Thank you for help

  • Currently, this update is only on Windows Update Catalog and will fix the issue by removing the security update.

Reason for Revision: Microsoft is announcing the release of
update 4032782 for Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7, Windows
       Server 2008 R2, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 to
address a known issue customers may experience when printing
from Internet Explorer. Only customers who are experiencing print
issues after installing Internet Explorer Cumulative update
4021558 should install update 4032782 because update 4032782
addresses the known issue by removing the protection from
CVE-2017-8529. The update is available via the Microsoft
       Update Catalog only.

  • I don't think this update has been released to the WSUS catalog.

This KB lists all additions to the WSUS catalog for this year: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/894199/description-of-software-update-services-and-windows-server-update-services-changes-in-content-for-2017

It is technically possible to download and inject an update from the Windows Catalog into WSUS. I generally don't recommend this because it has caused issues in the past when Microsoft did finally release an update to the WSUS catalog. That doesn't mean this update will be released to the WSUS catalog though as many/most updates never are.

Thus, I would generally recommend using software distribution to deploy an update not in the catalog.

Many have and do use the import method though so if you wish to try using the import method, there are many blog posts on the web covering it. Here's one: http://www.toolzz.com/?p=1349
