MDT dual installation of windows 7 and windows 8 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I just wanted to make sure if this was possible, I have tried a few attempts and making slow progress but wanted to find out peoples thoughts and ideas.

Has anyone tried using MDT to create a completely automated dual boot set up?

I can create a single image and install a VHD on top in two separate task sequences but I want to merge those together.

So what I thought was installing one O/S then install the second O/S which I have at the moment.

At the install section of the task sequence it installs the primary O/S, creates a VHD and installs the second O/S. First thing I noticed is that it installs the same O/S on both drives but an alternate O/S is selected in the task sequence!

Then what I was going to do was run through each stage on the task sequence and after that has complete change the boot priority and do the same stage again. But MDT notices something changed and moans about it.

So my other thoughts are to repeat each stage for the other O/S, which shouldn’t be a problem.

So if everything goes to plan the only issue I need to resolve is why the same O/S is installed on both drives.

So if anyone has done this or got any idea please let me know.
