Active directory users are not getting authenticated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

I have an active directory setup for sharepoint site. I have set windows authentication in IIS for my site. Now it works as expected when my client machine is not in domain (it will ask for credentials and displays the page). Problem comes when my client machine is part of domain. in this case, It keeps on asking for the credentials. what could be an issue here?

    Regards, Sujasree

  • The problem is:

when I enable windows authentication on the IIS, its not even logging the entered user name in the logs.

    1. initially iis sends a 401 to the browser

    2. browser request the user for credentials

    3. once the user enters the credentials, it looks iis server is not taking those for some reason.

When i enable basic authentication, it logs the user name in the third step above.

    any idea?

  • try to add your site to trusted sites in IE security settings. If it won't help try to add credentials into Control Panel > User Accounts > Manage your credentials > Add a Windows credential.

  • I already tried that. no luck.

my further debugging points the below:

Security audit has a failure audit that gives a substatus 0xc000006a (wrong password). not sure, why is this message.  I am 100% sure that i am passing valid user name and password. Any suggestions?
