  • Question

  • Hi

I am trying to take the system state backup of a virtual machine which is Win 2008 R2 using DPM 2010 but I'm getting the following error:

DPM cannot create a backup because Windows Server Backup (WSB) on the protected computer encountered an error (WSB Event ID: 517, WSB Error Code:  0x8078001D). (ID 30229 Details: Internal error code: 0x809909FB)

I tried to take a system state backup locally as follows:

    C:\Windows\system32>wbadmin start systemstatebackup -backuptarget:c:
    wbadmin 1.0 - Backup command-line tool
    (C) Copyright 2004 Microsoft Corp.

Starting to back up the system state [9/10/2012 2:36 PM]...
    Retrieving volume information...
This will back up the system state from volume(s) Local Disk(C:) to c:.
Do you want to start the backup operation?

Creating a shadow copy of the volumes specified for backup...
    Found (0) files.
    Summary of the backup operation:

Log of files for which backup failed:
    C:\Windows\Logs\WindowsServerBackup\Backup_Error-10-09-2012_14-36-13.log

    The operation ended before completion.
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

The error log file says :

Error in backup of C:\windows\\systemroot\ during enumerate: Error [0x8007007b] The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

    Please help. This is urgent.

I didn't reboot the server after installing the hotfix as it was mentioned on MS support site, should I try taking a backup after rebooting it? Please help.
