Office for Mac 2011 Read Email Revert to Unread

  I use Outlook for Mac 2011 and Exchange 2010 and am having a recurring problem.  Occasionally, emails show up in my account that I read; after less than a minute, they revert to Unread for some unknown reason.  No matter how many times I read it or change the status to Read, it changes back to Unread.  As an aside, I also access my email from a PC running Office 2007 and from the Outlook WebApp -- those same emails appear as Read on those platforms and do not show signs of the same problem.  Any ideas how to correct this issue?
