LU6.2 communication RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am lost on how to communicate over an LU6.2 connection. I have Host Integration Server running an active connection with the host.

Now I need to send and receive data and I don't know how. Can anyone point me in a general direction on how to do this? Can it be done in BizTalk, or does it have to be done elsewhere?

  • Hi,

It is possible to communicate over LU6.2. DB2 adapter leverages the new Managed Provider for DB2 that is provided with HIS. The provider is capable of communicating over both TCP/IP and LU6.2 but in the latter case, an HIS Server installation is required. For reference see Introduction to BizTalk Adapters for Host Systems . So yes it can be done in BizTalk.

  • You haven't provided enough details to be able to provide an answer.

You didn't indicate what system you are trying to communicate with (IBM mainframe, AS/400) or what application (CICS, DB2, IMS, etc.)

Do you have an APPC application on Windows that you are using to communciate with a mainframe application?

If you can provide more details, we might be able to give a better answer.

    Thanks...

  • We are trying to communicate to a CICS application.

I need assistance on how to write or learn to write an application that would send and receive data via LU6.2. Thanks, John
