WSUS patching failed and downloaded updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello - We use WSUS for patching windows servers approx (800) and servers download patches from WSUS and install on Sunday morning between 1 AM and 5 AM. Usually approx 40- 50 servers have patches that are failed or few patches are downloaded but not installed. What is the best to way to install patches without login into these servers and manually installing them?.

    Thank you

  • Hi,

If some updates doesn't install, they will be installed at the next scheduled installation.

If there are some clients are failed to install, it's WSUS Administrator's duty to find out the reason and fix them.

Normally, if a client failed to get the update from WSUS server, we can start the troubleshooting with reading the windowsupdate.log.

If a client has downloaded the update from WSUS but failed to install it, we may need to dig into the CBS log.

    Best Regards.

  • ok. How about superseded updates so that update is detected after previous update is installed and system is rebooted

There is any way to install updates remotely through powershell if update is downloaded ?
