Deploying the Windows 10 Start menu layout with Group Policy

    Question

  • Hi,

I would like to deploy Windows 10 several start menu layouts with GP and apply these different start menu layout settings to the different security groups via GP.
Does somebody know what will happen with start menu layout for user who belong to two or several groups which have different start menu layouts setting?
    Thank you in advance,

    Alex

  • Hi Alex,

Policies are not applied to security groups (they're for security settings, not policies). Group Policy objects can only be linked to site, domain, and OU in the Active Directory.

Yes, you can create add security groups under an OU, and a user can be a member of different security groups. However, GPOs that linked to the OU will only apply to the computer or user objects within the OU directly, because of the same fact that policies are not applied to security groups.

So actually, you don't need to worry about this at all.
