  • Hi Albert,

When did the issue occur? Did you install some updates?
If it is not clear, I recommend to consult Lenovo Support.

  • Hi Ashidacchi,

Lenovo support said this is a Microsoft problem...

  • Cannot see the desktop, only has mouse cursor. Ctl+Alt+Del can run task manager. Run explorer in command prompt still has no response.

  • I discovered that I use the command to add the user account. The first time can login and can show the desktop but cannot run the internal apps (Calculator, camera calendar...). After the first login, the same problems will appear again after entered password.

  • Hi Albert,

You wrote "And click the calculator and camera has no response", so I thought you can see the desktop screen.
On the other hand, you wrote "Run explorer in command prompt". Why can you run explorer , when you cannot see the desktop?

What you wrote makes me confused.

If you are in Tablet mode (instead of Desktop mode), you can switch by shortcut key: [Windows] logo key + [A] between two mode.

  • Are you able to open file explorer?

See if you can get into safe mode:

    1) hold down the shift key and click the left lower corner windows icon then power then restart (so you will hold down the shift key while clicking restart)

    2) If the above does not work then open administrative command prompt and type:

    shutdown /r /o /f/ t 00

    3) I you cannot open administrative command prompt and can use the keyboard communicate that into the thread for the method.

    4) hardware method to open the windows advanced troubleshooting menu:

    a) power on the computer and as soon as you see the Microsoft icon power off

    b) repeat:  power on the computer and as soon as you see the Microsoft icon power off

    c) power on the computer and allow it to advance > report into the thread what you see

    5) If you are unable to open the windows advanced troubleshooting menu on the computer you should be able to open the windows advanced troubleshooting menu on a windows 10 iso:

    a) find a flash drive that you can format ( > or = 8 GB)

    b) create a bootable windows 10 iso:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

    c) find the applicable boot key for the Lenovo notebook:  F12 or FN + F11

    http://www.disk-image.com/faq-bootmenu.htm

    d) insert the windows 10 iso into any usb port

    e) power on the computer and repetitively click the F12 key

    f) select external USB HD

    g) it may take 5 - 10 minutes for the iso to load while you view the Microsoft Windows icon

    h) select language, time, currency, and keyboard, or click next

    I) click troubleshoot

    j) start with system restore > start with oldest restore point and move to the most recent restore point

If all system restore points fail or if there are no system restore points move to the next step

    k) startup repair

If start up repair fails move to the next step

    l) command prompt > Administrator X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe > X:\Sources>

    m) If you get to this point communicate that into the thread.  For the next steps you will need a camera or smart phone camera to take pictures and post images into the thread for commands and results.
