  • Hi Luis,

there is no encryption on Disk. DPM only supports tape encryption, encrypting the data while it is written to tape.

If you want to have your disk backups encrypted, you have to:

    1. encrypt the files. DPM will back them up and restore them and does not care whether they are encrypted or not.

    2. Use Hardware Encryption of your storage if supported. This is transparent to DPM. DPM does not know that the data is encrypted while writing it.

    Cheers

P.S.: Here is a link describing how to set up tape encryption for your protection groups:

  • Hi,

I think you were asking about encryption over the wire when synchronization or express full backups are taken.  DPM does not do encryption before sending data, instead you can simply enable IPSEC to accomplish that.
