SSAS Server Timeout RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am trying to limit the running time of ProClarity queries using the Analysis Services property 'Server Timeout' but it does not seem to work? I have set it to 1 second and it still processes queries around 70 seconds in length. I am using SQL Server 2005 and have tested the timeout with ProClarity queries and MDX queries directly in SQL Management Studio with the same result. Am I missing something that I need to do in order to enforce the timeout value?

    Thanks!

  • Hi James,

Since it's happening in SSMS, I recommend re-posting this in the SSAS forum.  I'm not sure why ServerTimeout is not being respected but the SSAS team would be able to answer that question faster.  If it gets fixed in SSMS, I bet it will be fixed in ProClarity.  If not, please let us know.

    Thanks,

    -Joey

More information:  ServerTimeout is a server property that controls the timeout of queries that are issued against SSAS. The default value is 3600, which indicates 60 minutes.
