Remote Assistance in Windows 8 unable to connect to Windows 10 RRS feed

  • Hello, 

    I am attempting to help my father (in his 70's) with his computing. He is running Windows 8 Pro and I am running Windows 10 Home.

    We have used Remote Assistance in the past when he had XP.

    Since then, We have been using TeamViewer.  He recently got flagged as a commercial  account and they have locked us out.

    The Problem

    I have checked the appropriate boxes to allow RA invitations and allowed remote access.

    I have opened Ports 3389.

    He is able to send me the RA invitation and his session is open when we try to connect.

    We get a error message that says "Remote Assistance can't make the connection"

    "The person you are trying to help might have closed Remote Assistance.  Otherwise, there might be a problem with your Network.  To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Troubleshoot."

    The interesting thing is that Remote Desktop works just fine.  

    Can someone please give us a hand?

    This is extremely frustrating!
