CRM 2011 Integration with Sharepoint Online - HTC Component files not allowed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have got Sharepoint Online (as part of Office 365) setup with CRM 2011 online, but I've hit a snag which mean's I cant access the Sharepoint files directly from the CRM. The error message I get is

"The action buttons are disabled because the Sharepoint server that you are using does not allow HTC component files. To enable the buttons, contact your system administrator."

A bit of searching around and I came up with this webcast from Girish Raja saying that I'd need to create a workaround with iFrames.

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/girishr/archive/2011/02/14/msdn-webcast-integrating-sharepoint-2010-and-crm-2011-online.aspx

This webcast is a couple of months old, so my question is if this issue has been resolved, and if not is there any plans to address this?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

Although we do not support Office365 questions, your question will be better resolved here: http://community.office365.com/en-us/default.aspx, and put this ask in accordingly.

    Thanks,

  • This is a known limitation that we are working to address.  It is related to our List Component's use of htc files which are currently blocked in SharePoint Online.  In the meantime you can use the Document Management feature without the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 List Component being activated which would provide the same functionality available when using SharePoint 2007 with CRM 2011.

With the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 List Component deactivated, the SharePoint folders will not be automatically created by CRM.   You can associate existing SharePoint folders with CRM records.  Once a CRM record is linked to a SharePoint folder, you will be able to manage documents within CRM but the Documents area will appear as an IFrame of the SharePoint folder instead of having the full CRM look and feel.

  • Thanks Dana,

I've seen the sharepoint 2007 solution and although it will serve a purpose, it's not something I would feel happy demonstrating to a customer. Is there likely to be an update forthcoming or will we need to wait for RTW version of Office 365?
