  • Question

  • Hi Experts,

we got a requirement from network team to install TACAS+server on a Domain controller, they say it should be installed on a Domain Controller. When googled it i came to know that we can install this s/w on Windows sever OS and it should have access to AD database.

So my question is, is it ok to install this s/w on any server but not in Domain Controller? Or it should be installed only on DC?

  • Hi Nidhin.CK,

    Thanks for posting here.

We are not sure how does this third party application access active directory database but application should have proper way to access database remotely in proper protocols ,such LDAP(Lightweight Directory Access Protocol).

Usually we’d better avoid to install any unnecessary software on critical business server , such like domain controller due to security and reliability reasons. So could we first confirm with the support service form TACAS and see if there is way to configure their software access AD database remotely .

    Thanks.
