Not able to save Local Resource with same name as login user RRS feed

  • Question

  • Created a user say Joe and set his group to Portfolio Viewer, NOT a resource.

When I have a project with local resource of his name (Joe), it can't be saved. I have the following pop-up dialog:

The local resource XXX YYY cannot be replaced with enterprise of the same name due to one of the following conflicts:
    - The enterprise resource has been deactivated
    - The enterprise resource is already a team member
    - The enterprise and local resources are of different types
    - The enterprise account belongs to a user and not a resource
    - You do not have Build Team permissions on this project.
    - You do not have Assign Resource permission on this resource
    - You do not have permissions to bring the enterprise resource named XXX YYY into your project
Before the project can be saved, the local resource must be renamed. Rename the local resource or cancel the save?

Joe (on the server side) is never set as Enterprise resource, why there is an attempt to map the local resource to the login name?

Is there configuration on what to automatically map and not map during saving of MS Project?

  • No way around this one - uniqueness is required across resources (local and enterprise) and usernames by design.

Make a small change to your local resource name, and you're on your way.
