How to secure a list based upon Content Type? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey Guys, Just exploring Content Type in details at this point. I have created a Custom list inheriting from multiple Content Types. Is it possible to secure the list as such that few employees will have ability to create records of Content Type A while others can only work with Content Type B?

    Thanks

    M

  • Hi Manny,

As far as i know, We can not provide the permission for content type by default. But obviously there is a workaround for this. You may create custom event handler (I won't recommended this, until you don't have any other option) OR Information Management Policy.

I will recommend, you should split your single library in two libraries and provide the permission accordingly.

Here is some good article for Information Management Policy:

    This reference for event handler:

    Hope this will help
