How to track management pack changes in Management Group? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

A general question that I usually get asked is if it's possible to track and trace special management pack maintenance going on in the Management Group? For example to find out which SCOM-Admin that might have added or deleted management pack in the management group? Likewise I'm interested in tracking which Admin/Author that has configured certain overrides.

From what I know there is no built-in function allowing me to deal with these type of operations? Maybe someone have experience from other 3rd party application adding this functionality to the management group?

Thanks for any help on this.

    Regards,

    Richard

  • Hi.  Hopefully this will be included in SCOM 2012, but for now it's 3rd party territory.  Check out MP Studio from Silect.

  • Hi

Layne is correct - the only thing to watch out for with the Silect product is that it only audits changes made with that product. It won't audit changes made directly in the OpsMgr GUI.

  • Thanks both Graham and Layne for your answers.

So if I understand this correctly there is no solution/option (no 3rd party etc) today at all available in the OpsMgr Console (or through powershell) tracking these type of changes?

  • there's no auditing in SCOM, so no.
