Slipstream in SharePoint 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

I got an requirement that i need to build a server and add the sharepoint server to my existing farm.Current SharePoint Farm details : 2 WFE, 1 index, 2 DB. (The requirement is to add WFE to my existing farm)

Existing Farm Build structure is SP 2007 + SP2 + Aug CU 2011 installed.  To update my newly build farm, i thought of using slipstream method.
Where i extracted the MOSS 2007 Base version and in the update folder. I placed the SP2 and Aug CU 2011 updates. When i run the setup.exe of MOSS 2007. The installation got completed, in the control panel i could see the KB of Aug CU 2011. Then i run the sharepoint configuration wizard and noticed in the configuration database version shows as SP2 version.

Really, i am banking my head like anything. In control panel, it shows Aug CU 2011 kb but whereas in Configuration DB version of CA it show as SP2 version.

I run twice/three the sharepoint configuration wizard. Nothing works out.

Note : I too have language packs installed in my existing farm. I got to know that, installing at single stroke of (MOSS Base version + SP2+ Aug CU 2011 + Language Pack) is not possible. Since CU installation will override the Language pack updates.

Can someone help me, what can be done to complete this task.
