EMET not checking if given file is a valid executable RRS feed

  • Question

  • Some executables don't have a .exe file type. Examples of this are OpenOffice.org's "soffice.bin" and a BOINC (distributed computing) project I volunteer to which uses three relevant executables: "concat_windows_intelx86.exe_220", "fit_sed_windows_intelx86.exe_220" and "wrapper_windows_intelx86.exe_220".

All of these are valid executables but don't have the .exe filetype. EMET refuses to add these saying that they "[are] not a valid executable." It would be helpful for EMET to be more thorough in its checking rather than just checking the file type (assuming this is its current behaviour).
