No Java functionality whatsoever. RRS feed

  • Question

  • This past February, around the time of Patch Tuesday, I lost all Java scripting on my system.  It's WXP Pro w/ a Pentium D, and 2GB of RAM.  I've always kept the system updated.

IE8, Skype and Control Panel/User Accounts (password change time) and God knows what else are affected

Around the same time, there was a Java update; I did that.

Also, I switched from Norton Internet Security 2011 (had to periodically re-activate it) to Kaspersky PURE.

At first I thought it Kaspersky causing the problem, but a trip to their forum and uninstalling it, revealed otherwise.

I un-installed all Java and installed the latest, to no avail.

Does anybody have a suggestion as to where to go at this point?

I was toying with the idea of rebuilding the system with an nLite streamlined boot CD...

  • Hi Mark,

Have you tried these? (not to be done in order..)

    • Reset your IE8 settings (Internet options - advanced tab)
    • Try a different web browser (i.e.: Chrome, Firefox)
    • Use a different user profile
    • Delete all temp folders and files

Maybe you should consider upgrading to Windows 7 and IE9.
