Excel Inside RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are building a web application that extracts transactions from accounting software into our database. We want to allow the user to be able to create (or upload) a Budget inside of our application so they no longer need to maintain a stand-alone file that is not connected to anything. They will thereafter maintain that Budget ongoing inside our application.

This way they have better financial reporting and analysis because all the data (Budget and Actual) is in one database. We are programming in Python (Django).

We want to integrate Excel inside our application so the user can make (or upload) their Budget and maintain it ongoing.  The data will reside in our database.

    We have three questions:

    1. Does a Visual Studio subscription provide us the tools we need to implement what is described above?
    2. We need to be able to pull data from the Excel sheets into other parts of our application. VS will allow us to integrate Excel inside our application - meaning running on the same server as our application, correct?
    3. Let's assume that we subscribe to VS and then integrate Excel into our application. Then let's assume that we launch our web application and get millions of paying customers. Do we have to pay additional licensing fees to Microsoft beyond the VS subscription?

    Thanks in advance....
